Best Spa in Rome

Why not? If you have a long vacation in Rome, why not to take half a day to just relax and be spoiled inside a beautiful spa?

Of course it is not what we suggest to do in the Eternal city if you have 2-3 days to discover the beauty of Rome, but if you are here for one week or more and you want to have hours just for yourself, why not to experience one of the best modern spa in Rome.

When the Romans talked about civilising the world they weren’t only talking of conquest and military might. In fact, they use the tactic of exporting their lifestyle as a key weapon in their subjugation of others, and nothing represented this better than Roman baths.

Often free to use and available to the whole populace, the ancient Roman baths were a crucial aspect of daily life in the Empire. Usually consisting of the caldarium (hot bath), the tepidarium (warm bath) and the frigidarium (cold bath), bathing was seen as a central part of the normal routine for people in Roman times.

Not only seen as a way to keep people happy, Roman baths were also a grand symbol of the superior nature of Roman civilisation. Often vast structures, Roman baths also relied on the comprehensive system of Roman aqueducts and water storage and sewerage systems which stood unmatched right up to modern times.

Rome Trip Tips suggests the following 3 Spa from the best of Rome:

This is the place to take your health and beauty seriously.

Walking into the Rocco Forte Spa at Hotel de Russie , one of Rome’s premier luxury hotels, the loudness and craziness of Rome is but a distant thought. Think, a true oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the grand metropolis.

Rocco Forte Spa, Hotel de Russie (Piazza del Popolo)

The Hotel de Russie offers a hydropool, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and gym. Non hotel-guests can use the gym, relaxation area, Turkish bath and pool for an entry fee (€35). In addition to classic massage treatments, the de Russie offers Rolfing and deep tissue massage (€90), reflexology (€44) and Watsu (€120). Watsu (water + shiatsu) is an incredibly relaxing experience, in which the therapist cradles the client in a warm water pool. Manicure (€25-40) pedicure (€25) and waxing treatments (€50) and facial treatments from €120 are also available.

In keeping with Rocco Forte’s holistic wellness philosophy, the Spa recently added a series of bespoke rituals to their repertoire including a divine ancient Roman ritual which starts off with a warm foot bath with volcanic stones and essential oils. Complete with a scrub, foot mask and reflexology massage, it’s the perfect way to relax after a day full of sightseeing. This ritual costs €160.

External guests are always welcome and the added advantage is that if you’re visiting for a day of pampering, you can have lunch, a snack or even just a cocktail in their garden bar and restaurant Le Jardin de Russie (the club sandwich is fantastic and the extensive weekend brunch at €55 per person is well worth it!).
